Help Chip Denton Fight Cancer After Years of Supporting U.S. Troops
Chip (James) Denton spent more than 10 years supporting American troops overseas and helping veterans at home. Today, he is facing the fight against cancer.
Two and a half years ago, a routine heart scan unexpectedly revealed lung cancer. Chip had never smoked and had lived a healthy life. Doctors believe the likely cause may have been secondhand smoke or toxic burn pit exposure during his four tours in Iraq and two in Afghanistan as a civilian contractor supporting the U.S. military.
Surgery removed part of his lung, but the procedure damaged a nerve and Chip lost most of his voice. That loss ended his career as a Microsoft technical trainer and cloud engineer supporting Veterans Administration projects that required speaking. With the loss of his job came the loss of his health insurance.
For more than two years his scans were clear. Then in December, cancer was discovered in his remaining lung and confirmed by biopsy on New Year’s Eve. Chip is now undergoing chemotherapy and radiation as he fights for recovery.
Chip and his wife, Pichaya, who has been disabled since a stroke six years ago, are now facing significant medical and living expenses during treatment.
Many friends have asked how they can help. If you feel led to support Chip and Pichaya during this difficult time, any donation, share, or prayer is deeply appreciated.
