Blue Lake Fire Department is asking for donations for our long time member Assistant Chief Ed Jones. After an unexpected medical emergency Chief Jones has been at UCSF since Christmas day.
Chief Jones has been a staple of Blue Lake Fire for 40 years and counting. He is known throughout the city of Blue Lake as well as the Humboldt County Fire Service as a whole. His commitment to his community and fire family is unmatched.
With this unfortunate medical emergency, it has put a lot of stress on his family and wife Gelly. She is currently having to work to continue to provide for their family while Ed is still recovering. The medical expenses are quickly racking up with the costs of commuting back and forth as well as a long physical therapy facility stay. Medicare will not cover the complete cost of what Ed needs.
We are asking the community, friends, family, and anyone who has known Ed for support. Everything and anything is appreciated and we will continue to update with his recovery journey. Gelly has people in her corner and we are directly supporting her in any way we can.
Blue Lake Fire will also be hosting and in-house fundraiser for Chief Jones. Check Blue Lake Fires social media for updates on the event and Ed. Thank you for your support and the family is greatly appreciative.
As of January 21st he has been moved to a facility for physical therapy.
