Chicken Nugget and Gang Animal Rescue began with the love of one special chicken and the dedication of Keir Schutte. What started as a small act of compassion has grown into a full-scale rescue operation in Lebanon, Indiana, where Keir now cares for a wide variety of animals—chickens, bunnies, guinea pigs, birds, kittens, puppies, and even a bearded dragon. The rescue recently moved to a larger adoption center at 555 North County Rd 600 East to meet the growing need, but the challenges have only increased. Keir’s phone rings constantly with people needing to surrender animals or asking for help with supplies, and she works tirelessly to provide food, shelter, and medical care for every animal that comes through her doors.

Just last night, Keir spent hours at the emergency vet with a litter of three-week-old puppies who lost their mother and were showing signs of illness. Some of the puppies were diagnosed with parvo, and Keir is now caring for them around the clock, bottle feeding and monitoring their health while also tending to the many other animals in her care. Her husband, Fritz, is a constant support, but the need is overwhelming. Supplies like puppy food, kitten food, cleaning products, and medical treatments are always in demand, and the costs add up quickly. Keir has been rescuing animals for over eight years, and her commitment is unwavering—she even left a successful 30-year career in property management to devote herself fully to this cause.
