Help Cheyenne Stephens Emmons Get the Life-Saving Transplant She Needs
Cheyenne Stephens Emmons is a resilient young woman who is currently awaiting a rare and complex heart and liver double transplant at Columbia Hospital in New York. This surgery is critical for her survival and requires extensive medical expertise and care. Cheyenne's journey has been incredibly challenging, and she needs your support to overcome this latest hurdle.
Cheyenne's Story
Cheyenne was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a rare congenital heart defect where the left side of the heart is underdeveloped. At just three months old, she underwent her first open-heart surgery known as the Fontan procedure, which reroutes the blood vessels to help her heart pump more efficiently. A second surgery followed when she was two years old to further strengthen her blood vessels. Despite the success of these surgeries, HLHS left her with a lifelong struggle and a need to carefully monitor her physical activity and health. As a child, this was hard not being able to run and keep up with the other children.
Growing up, Cheyenne faced more than just medical challenges. She spent her early childhood in the foster care system, moving between homes for several years. When she was eight, she found her forever family with Adrienne and Jim Stephens. The Stephens fostered many children and cats; which helped Cheyenne discover her love for caring for others. She was finally able to thrive.
A Love Story and New Challenges
As a young adult, Cheyenne met Dillon Emmons while working at Walmart. They quickly bonded over shared interests and dreams. Last summer, they got married and hoped to start a family. However in the last few months, Cheyenne's heart condition began to cause liver failure, leading to frequent hospital visits. Her condition has now reached a critical point, necessitating a double transplant to save her life.
How You Can Help
Cheyenne has been on Medicaid since infancy, but it does not cover the full cost of her extensive hospital stay and the double transplant surgery. Dillon has already exhausted his limited retirement savings and has taken significant time off work to be with Cheyenne. With Cheyenne now in New York, family visits are limited and financially straining.
We need your help to cover the overwhelming medical expenses. Your donations will go directly towards Cheyenne's hospital bills, including the double transplant and her prolonged stay in the hospital. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference in helping Cheyenne fight for her life and future.
Please consider donating to Cheyenne's GoFundMe campaign. Your generosity and support will give Cheyenne the chance to overcome this immense challenge and continue to share her love and care with the world.
