The day after celebrating her birthday, Cheyanne (Shaffer) Dodson received news no one ever expects; she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Just months earlier, in October, Cheyanne had celebrated one of the happiest milestones of her life, marrying her husband and beginning an exciting new chapter with her family. Now, instead of settling into that new season, she is preparing to face the fight of her life.

Cheyanne has been diagnosed with Stage 1 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, a form of breast cancer that is HER2 positive and hormone positive. While it was caught early, she now faces surgery, treatments, and the many physical and emotional challenges that come with fighting cancer.

Cheyanne is also the best ever mom of her amazing 6-year-old son, Oakleigh, who is her entire world. As she begins this journey, her focus needs to be on healing and being there for her family.

Cancer affects far more than just health. Between surgery, treatments, recovery time, and frequent medical appointments, Cheyanne’s husband will need to take time away from work to be by her side and help care for their family. This will bring a significant loss of income during an already overwhelming time, along with the additional costs of medical care, transportation to appointments, and everyday household expenses.

Those who know Cheyanne know she has a huge heart and is always there for the people she loves. Now it’s our turn to show up for her.
