Support Chewbacca's Fight for Health

On May 17th, 2024 I began to notice my 7 year old Boykin Spaniel, Chewbacca, was huddled in my bed panting and shaking. I assumed he was having anxiety like our other Boykin Spaniel from the same litter and after a few hours he settled down. Since that incident he has progressively

gotten worse. He is lethargic, drooling excessively, disoriented, unstable while walking, not eating, has uncontrollable bowels, and all around not behaving like my dog. He’s scared, I’m scared.

His first truly bad day was May 30th and we schedule a vet appointment with our primary vet at All Pets Animal hospital in Peoria, AZ for the very next day. We did lab work and were prescribed Gabapentin, but we are under the impression that he has something wrong neurologically and it’s going to be expensive.

My family has lived in Cottonwood since 2005! When my dad learned that a Boykin Spaniel was a breed, he knew that we simply had to have one. Our last name is Boykin and when he told my sister and I that we had a dog breed named after us we were OBSESSED! This was years before my parents surprised my sister and I with our twin puppies in 2016 and they have been the absolute BEST dogs you could possibly dream of adding to the family. Energetic, playful, protective, cuddly, friendly to all animals except maybe birds… and they are two best friends. Chewy was all of this leading up to May 30th. He is my best friend and I am having the vet do absolutely everything they can for him because I know he has so much life to live and he is fighting to live it.

I am freshly 24 and cannot pay for the extensive vet bills that are to come and I am simply begging for you and our community to please help me save my dog.
