2/28/26 UPDATE
Hey gang, just checking in with an update on Chet in the ICU. He's doing well, but very exhausted. His respiratory rate is a bit low. They had him on CPAP earlier today for about 6 hours to get his lungs working more. He's currently on high flow oxygen and has a low grade fever so they started an antibiotic this afternoon. I'm guessing that they will keep him in ICU for at least a couple more days. Please continue sending prayers, good vibes and sharing his fundraiser.
My coworker and friend, Chet Ross, is having open-heart surgery tomorrow, 2/26/26. For a guy with such a great heart, it’s kind of defective!
Chet had his first heart attack several years ago and more recently another one 2 years ago. One year ago, he had a hospitalization for more heart-related complications. Chet hasn’t felt well for the last month and was admitted to the hospital again with severe chest pains. Tests show that he has a 70% blockage that requires a 5-6 hour surgery with most likely a week-long hospital stay post-surgery in addition to the 4 days in the hospital prior to surgery. Once home, he will have several weeks of daily cardiac therapy and limits to how much he can work.
Each part of this process carries added expenses, including a medical out-of-pocket expense of $6,600.00. I know money is tight for everyone. Even if you have $10 to give, it all adds up and can help ease his burdens. Chet has always helped others whenever he can and I hope that others will help him so that he can focus on his recovery.
