Cheryl Bowlus, my wife, has always been a source of strength and encouragement for our family and others in our church and community. In May 2024, she underwent a total hip replacement on her right side. Unfortunately, complications arose after the surgery, and she now faces a long road to recovery. Cheryl needs 16 physical therapy treatments to help strengthen and stabilize the muscles in her leg and around her hip. The cost of these sessions adds up quickly. On top of this, she is dealing with a painful stress fracture at the hip, which will take time and care to heal.
As if that weren’t enough, Cheryl has also been diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. The cataracts are blocking her field of view and clarity of sight, making it impossible for her to get a new prescription for glasses. She is scheduled for cataract surgery on both eyes in January 2026, with each procedure carrying a significant co-payment. Our health insurance covers part of the costs, but the out-of-pocket expenses for the surgeries and physical therapy are more than we can manage alone. I am also facing a co-payment for my own upcoming surgery.
This has been a challenging season for our family, especially as I was just diagnosed with colon cancer and preparing for surgery in the coming month. We are trusting God for provision through the generosity of others. If you feel led by God to support us—whether out of the goodness of your heart, a desire to help someone in need, or because you have been blessed with abundance and wish to share that gift—we would be deeply grateful. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps lighten this burden and brings us one step closer to Cheryl receiving the care she needs. If you are unable to give, your prayers and sharing this fundraiser are just as meaningful. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for considering being part of this journey. God bless you for your kindness, your generosity, and your compassion. With sincere gratitude, The Bowlus Family
