On September 23, 2024, my sister, Cheryl, suffered a spontaneous intracranial hemorrhage, which led her to having emergency brain surgery. She had zero signs or symptoms leading up to this event. Cheryl spent two weeks in the surgical ICU and was given a 10% chance of recovery.
Our family has a firm foundation in our faith in Jesus Christ, and we were joined by people all over the country and world praying for recovery and healing. On October 2, 2024, we witnessed a miracle. My sister became alert and responded to stimulus. This answer to prayer was the beginning of her recovery journey.
On October 19, 2024, she was discharged from the hospital and took a 5-hour ambulance ride across the state of South Dakota. Once she arrived at the rehabilitation hospital, her therapy began. Cheryl began making great progress relearning how to walk, read, and do daily tasks. She was getting ready to be discharged on November 2nd to return home.
On November 1, 2024, our family received a phone call that she began vomiting and having seizures. She was admitted again to the ICU with another brain bleed. She remains in the ICU in a medically induced coma.
Cheryl has a long road of healing ahead of her and we do not know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future, which is our Lord Jesus Christ. My sister has accrued a large hospital bill during this unfortunate event. On behalf of my family, we would like to thank you for considering helping my sister with the stress of upcoming medical bills. More importantly than that, we would like to thank all who lifted our family up in your prayers.
