Our family’s world was turned upside down when Cheryl unexpectedly learned she had liver disease. What we were initially told was early-stage quickly became devastating news — it was actually end-stage liver disease, and the only cure was an urgent liver transplant.

The weeks that followed were filled with fear, uncertainty, and countless hospital visits. Cheryl endured many long and exhausting days in and out of the hospital, undergoing test after test as doctors worked quickly to determine the best course of action. After weeks of waiting and praying, she was finally transferred to a hospital where her transplant team was able to place her on the urgent transplant list.

Just two weeks later, we received the miracle we had been hoping for — Cheryl received the liver transplant she so desperately needed.

While we are incredibly grateful for this second chance at life, Cheryl’s journey is far from over. She now faces a long and challenging road to recovery. Soon, she will be transferred to a rehabilitation center where she will receive specialized care and physical therapy to help her regain strength and safely return home.

This entire experience has come on so suddenly and unexpectedly. Medical bills have continued to pile up from the extensive hospital stays, procedures, medications, and transplant care. On top of that, the loss of income during this time has placed a significant financial strain on the family, making everyday living expenses increasingly difficult.
