Dear Family, Friends, and Kind Hearted Supporters,
It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Cheryl Mattas on 6/23/25. Cheryl was surrounded by her family as she peacefully passed in her home after her cancer returned unexpectedly earlier this year.
Cheryl was a once in a lifetime kind of woman. For 40+ years, Cheryl served her community as a CCRN at several hospitals in the San Diego area. Cheryl was a devout Catholic and heavily involved in her church, participating in Cursillo weekends and taking part in the church's family camp as the Camp Nurse. Cheryl loved baseball and the Boston Red Sox, but she loved her family (especially her grandchildren) more. She is survived by her husband Ed, daughter Julie and her husband Matthew, and their children, Mackenzie and David.
As we come together to support her family, they would like to raise funds to donate to Our Lady of Perpetual Hope to fix a broken stained glass window in Cheryl’s name.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference. Your generosity will help to beautify the church that Cheryl devoted so much of her life and time to. If you are unable to contribute financially, we ask that you share this campaign with anyone you can to help spread the word.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, kindness, and compassion during this trying time. Let’s come together to honor Cheryl's incredible life and support her family as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
