Dear Friends and Family,
My name is Cheryl Hamilton and I am reaching out to you during a challenging/scary time in my life.
Recently, I was diagnosed with hydrocephalus( NPH), a condition where excess cerebrospinal fluid builds up in the brain, causing increased pressure and a range of health issues. They also found a mass by my Brain. Thank God this mass is benign! This diagnosis has significantly impacted my life, requiring
surgery.
I will be under doctor's care for the next 4-6 months and will be unable to work. Of course I will apply for Family Medical Leave “FMLA” but that takes a few months to get it approved an it dose not pay as much as my normal pay.
Hydrocephalus is a condition characterized by an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain's ventricles, leading to increased intracranial pressure. This can result from a blockage in the flow of CSF, an imbalance in its production and absorption, or other disruptions. In the context of the mass described earlier, the obstructive hydrocephalus is likely caused by the mass obstructing the normal flow of CSF through the ventricular system. This obstruction can lead to the enlargement of the ventricles and increased pressure within the skull.
The treatment for hydrocephalus is the surgical insertion of a drainage system, called a shunt. It consists of a long, flexible tube with a valve that keeps fluid from the brain flowing in the right direction and at the proper rate. One end of the tubing is usually placed in one of the brain's ventricles
Due to the severity of my condition, I am facing substantial medical expenses as well as housing expenses that are beyond my current means. To cover the costs of rent, Bge, car insurance and everyday cost of living plus raising my 3 young children I have set up this GoFundMe campaign.
My goal is to raise money which will directly support my medical care expenses that insurance dose not cover as well as helping to maintain my bills an still be able to support my 3 young children.
This will also help me to be able to focus on my recovery. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference and brings me one step closer to managing this condition effectively, and still maintain the immediate cost of living.
Thank you for your generosity and support during this difficult time. Your kindness means the world to us and will greatly assist in her journey to better health.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Thank you
