Help Cheryl Means Fight Stage 3 Breast Cancer
Cheryl Means, the mother of Brandon Means, Houston's biggest light in our office at Insight Global, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. Her journey has been filled with numerous appointments, tests, and procedures, including MRI, CT scans, blood tests, bone scans, and pre-ops. Despite having insurance, Cheryl has already paid $3,000 out of pocket for these essential medical services.
Cheryl will soon undergo a double mastectomy to remove both breasts. This is just the beginning of her treatment plan. Following the surgery, she will start radiation and chemotherapy. Radiation will shrink her skin, requiring another procedure to insert spacers to maintain skin elasticity for a future breast augmentation. Chemotherapy, as we know, brings its own set of challenges.
Cheryl will also have a CT scan and bone scan to ensure the cancer hasn't spread to her lymph nodes or other parts of her body. The results of these scans are crucial, as any additional spread would complicate her surgery and treatment plan.
The road ahead is long, with recovery and treatment to ensure the cancer does not return. Cheryl is incredibly strong and never asks for help, especially financially. Brandon, who has been a huge part of our team, is dedicated to supporting his mom through this challenging time. We want to be a light to the Means family and help alleviate the financial burden so Cheryl can focus on her recovery.
Insurance covers about 80%, leaving them to pay 20% out of pocket. With $3,000 already spent, the total cost of surgeries and treatments is daunting. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help make a difference. Your support, love, and generosity are greatly appreciated.
