Support Cherise in Cynthia's Journey Back Home

Hello. My name is Cherise Callahan and I am raising funds to bring my mother, Cynthia Ware, home to her final resting place. These funds will cover transporting her and her funeral expenses.

In 2019, while trying to take my niece, whom she had custody of to daycare, my mother and niece were hit by a car from behind. They were riding on my mother’s wheelchair scooter. My niece was seated in my mother’s lap and only abstained a couple of abrasions, while my mother took the brunt of the hit. As a result of the accident, my mother had to have 3 surgeries, a surgery for her right let, her pelvis and last her spine. The surgeon put rods in her back from her T7-T10 vertebrae, a rod across her pelvis, and a rod in her right femur. Since the accident, my mother resided in 2 different rehab centers.

Over the past 5 years the care in those centers was very poor. My mother encountered multiple incidents and several bouts of sepsis and hospital transfers, which led her to have what the doctors called super infections.

She had infection in multiple places in her body, in her back, her belly, her spine, and her muscles. The doctors told me that the infection was incurable. They would able to operate due to the multiple co-morbidities that my mother had, along with the severity of the infection. My mother transitioned on Sunday, June 30th, in hospice on the Palliative Care Unit at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL. I live 13 1/2 hours away from my mother and I need to bring her back home to Hampton, VA.

I want to lay her to rest where she is near family and friends. I would love to be able to cover all of her expenses, but financially I am unable to do it alone. I have taken custody of my niece, I am currently divorced and a single mother of 4 girls, and my father lives with me as well.

I have tried every avenue to try to get my mother transported back home while she was alive and healthier. I was told I have to pay out of pocket because her insurance will not cover it. I unfortunately just do not have the out-of-pocket funds. I am asking for help as I can’t do this alone. If God puts it in your heart to help, please donate or share this.
