Support Cherie and Stormie in Their Time of Need

Hi, I’m Cherie, and I am doing something that I never would have thought I would be doing: asking for help. I never wanted to be someone who would need to rely on others to help me; it’s usually the opposite. People come to me, and I help where and when I can. Unfortunately, life likes to throw curveballs at you, and today we struck out. Stormie, our 3-year-old male cat, needed emergency veterinary care. Stormie is the love of our and his sisters’ lives. Recently, he had begun acting strangely and not himself. He wouldn’t eat or drink much of anything and started urinating outside the litter box, if he could go at all. We took him to the vet, and he had a UTI and a urinary blockage. He was put on antibiotics and painkillers, and he was getting better, or so we thought, until he started to decline again. We took him back to the vet, and he was severely blocked again. They tried multiple urinary catheters to help relieve him, but nothing seemed to be working; they were only able to get droplets out of him. They ended up having to physically squeeze his bladder to empty it. Unfortunately, the catheters were not able to help him, so we had to take him to emergency services. Hours, many worries and concerns later, we had some answers. Turns out that when our regular vet was attempting to put the catheters in, they accidentally ended up perforating his urethra tube and never got into the bladder. Unaware of this, they suggested we take him to a emergency hospital. So, the wonderful people at the emergency veterinary hospital were able to insert a catheter into his bladder and empty it, and they were able to take care of the perforation. The downside to this is that he has to stay for 3-5 days, which only adds to the already extensive medical bills from the previous visits and this one. We are already $1,500 deep, and that was before this visit; so we’re looking at an additional $4,000-$6,000 on top of that. And quite frankly, I am at my wits' end. I am a one-woman household that, even with a full-time job, is just making ends meet, and I am also taking care of my mother. I am out of options, and I am maxed out. Anything will help; no amount is too small or insignificant, and even if you can’t help, please share, so it finds someone who might be able to. You are all very much appreciated. My daughter Ashley, Sage (our other cat), and especially Stormie himself will forever be thankful and grateful for any and all that you can do to help.
