Support Cheri Robinson's fight against cancer
Hi, I'm Ben Lyman and I'm starting this fundraiser for my mom, Cheri Robinson, who is battling cancer. In November she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Multiple Myeloma, a rare blood cancer that affects plasma cells, turning healthy cells into abnormal cells that cause blood, bone and tissue damage. She had been suffering with painful vertebrae and rib fractures for seven months before receiving her cancer diagnosis. Her treatment began in November with radiation, and chemotherapy began in January. She is now in her fifth month of chemo and has had two full rounds of radiation. Side effects have taken a toll on her body, making everyday life very painful. The neuropathy in her legs and feet is extreme and makes walking very difficult. The plan is to get Mom into remission, when she will then be sent to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York for a stem cell transplant. This will be a long stay away from home, up to two months, as it is a complicated procedure with weeks of prep work beforehand. Naturally, she is terrified.
We are asking for your help to ease some of her worries about paying bills during treatment. She is always worried about getting her monthly bills paid, and right now she needs to concentrate on getting healthy enough to keep fighting this disease. There is no cure for Multiple Myeloma, but there are treatments to hopefully extend her life as long as possible. We need Mom to concentrate on getting healthy without worrying about money for at least a few months. Any amount will help. If you can't donate, we ask that you please share this post with others. Thank you.
