Rebuilding After Eaton Fire: Welcoming New Baby and Hope

This is Chenxi, Le, and Miles. Our hearts are heavy as we share that our beloved home in Altadena, which we’ve poured so much love and effort into, tragically burned down in the recent Eaton Canyon fire. This was not just a house to us; it was the place where we welcomed our first child, where we created countless memories, and where we built our dreams. Over the past 1.5 years, we worked tirelessly to transform this house into a beautiful and welcoming Airbnb — a space where we could share our joy, hospitality, and love with others. Care messages sharing great memories and so much love in the house continue to pour in from our fantastic guests.

Now, with the fire taking everything, we are facing an overwhelming financial and emotional burden. The loss of the house has not only destroyed our sanctuary but also a vital source of income that helped sustain our family and the house. What's more, the insurance policy we diligently renewed each year backed out of the area due to "Wildfire Concerns" three weeks before the event without adequate notifications. I am also less than 10 days away from giving birth to our second child. Our minds were certainly focused elsewhere than the hush-hush insurance change.

The weight of this loss, paired with the anticipation of welcoming new life, has left us feeling both devastated and hopeful. But we still believe in the power of rebuilding and the importance of preserving the warmth and memories this house holds. It has been a sanctuary for us, and we had hoped it could continue to bring happiness and comfort to future guests.
