Support Chelsie's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
On Saturday April 5th, Chelsie was taken to the Adirondack Health Emergency Room via ambulance. At that time, she was struggling to breathe. She was hooked up to a breathing machine and was administered several different medications to assist with her breathing and to help keep her calm. The nurses, respiratory therapist, and doctors worked hard to make her as comfortable as possible. After about an hour, the medical staff made the decision to intubate her as her oxygen levels and carbon dioxide levels were unsafe.

Chelsie was then admitted to the Intensive Care Unit where she remained intubated and in a medically induced coma until Wednesday April 9th.

Doctors mentioned that her lungs needed to rest as they were swollen and compromised. More specifically, she was diagnosed with acute hypoxic respiratory failure secondary to asthma exacerbation.

Chelsie was extubated on Wednesday April 9th. She remained in the ICU until Friday. During that time, her body worked hard to clear out the medications that kept her sedated. She was confused, groggy, tired and uncomfortable.

On Friday, April 11th, she was moved to the Med/Surg floor at Adirondack Health where she remained until April 24th. When she was there, she worked closely with respiratory, physical and occupational therapy. Although she is making tremendous progress, she has a long road ahead of her.

Due to the lack of bed space and insurance conflicts with the rehabilitation facilities that were part of her original discharge plan, Chelsie will instead complete outpatient rehab locally to help her regain her ability to walk unassisted, improve her fine motor skills and get her back into shape. In addition, she will be meeting with new specialists (near and far) who will assist with ensuring that she has the best medical plan possible so this doesn’t happen again.

We have started this Go Fund Me as a way to help show support for Chelsie and her family so she can focus on her physical and mental health. But most importantly, to get her back to her role of being a mom to her five beautiful children. We truly can’t “thank” everyone enough for the support-whether it be asking how to help, the daily check-ins, the abundance of prayers and for the outpouring of love for the girl who means the world to us. It certainly takes a village.

Chelsie is a fighter (as we all know). So, naturally, in “Chelsie fashion,” she will get through this. She has shown a remarkable amount of perseverance and determination during this incredibly challenging time. We are grateful for the progress that she is making each day and for her support team. Please keep praying

Donations will be used to help Chelsie pay her medical bills and other expenses that have incurred as a result of this setback in her life.

Sending love, hugs and many thanks ❤️
