In May, our sister Chelsea received a sudden and devastating diagnosis: Invasive Triple-negative Breast Cancer, Stage 3. This cancer is rare and aggressive. Scans and biopsies revealed a significantly large tumor and that the cancer had spread to nearby breast tissue and toward her lymph nodes. This diagnosis has brought a whirlwind of appointments, scans and tests, medications and infusions, and specialists and surgeries, completely flipping Chelsea’s world upside down.
Chelsea is 34 years old with a future and dreams ahead that she was working so hard to achieve. She is a loving sister, aunt, friend and colleague. As the oldest in her family, Chelsea learned to persevere early on. After her mother died unexpectedly in 2009 and father in 2021, she became a parent to her two younger sisters and brother, always being a source of consistent support. The loss of her parents taught Chelsea to be strong and the importance of sincerely being there for others. Chelsea is known for being the friend you can call anytime, anywhere and she is an incredible aunt to Easton and Savannah.
After two surgeries, Chelsea just completed her first chemotherapy session and will continue to receive multiple doses of chemotherapy every week for the next six months. When the chemo regimen is complete, she will undergo 3-4 surgeries including reconstruction. If that surgery is successful, she will endure months of radiation therapy and follow-up procedures.
Chelsea has a long, challenging road ahead of her. While unfair, serious illness comes with significant costs. The number of medical bills piling up and the balances—only one week into treatment—is crushing. But without this treatment, Chelsea will not survive.
And so we are turning to you—friends, families, the community and supporters—for help. Whether you donate or share this fundraiser far and wide, our sister would be forever grateful. If you know Chelsea, you know she would do the same for you.
Thank you for reading this. While the outcome is unknown, we remain hopeful. Our family is blessed and grateful for all those who have, and will, walk beside Chelsea as she fights, perseveres, and survives into that future she so much deserves.
