Please help in the battle for Chelsea's life. My beautiful, vivacious daughter (graduate student in Johns Hopkins University with a bright future ahead) currently faces a major life altering moment. Recently, she received a sudden and shocking diagnosis of a rare and aggressive spinal (sarcoma) cancer.
The large tumor is wrapped around her spinal column and has invaded several regions of her vertebra in the thoracic and lumbar spine. Her tumor is the size of a coke can, and is causing partial paralysis of her left side along with excruciating pain. The doctors told her she was 24 -48 hours away from being permanently paralyzed if they had not discovered the tumor when they did.
Currently, doctors are providing a treatment plan that includes intense chemotherapy up to 5 times a week for at least 10 months, followed by extensive difficult surgery to remove affected bones and other tissues in her spine, rehabilitation and radiation.
Chelsea has a long and difficult road ahead. She really can use your immediate assistance to meet the costs and burdens of her treatment, supplies, supports and interventions needed to fight this cancer. As a graduate student, she has less than stellar independent insurance coverage and resources to meet the expenses of her treatment and other care needs.
Please show Chelsea that she has a large TEAM that is supporting her during this difficult time and throughout her journey. She is a fighter! Please let her know that you are with her! We may not be able to rid the cancer for her, but together we demonstrate that she is loved and supported in other ways as she battles for her life.
