Support Chelsea Jamison's Medical Journey

11/19 Update: The neuro team came in and discussed getting Chelsea discharged today and moving forward with all the GI tests as an outpatient plan of treatment. They won't just come out and say that it definitively is all related to malabsorption, but will make sure the vitamin intake is part of her discharge protocol. Working with dietetics and GI will help paint a better picture of what she'll need to do going forward.

So all in all, good news. Most importantly she's stable and in good spirits. Thank you for the love and well wishes!

11/18 Update: Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out to and supported the Jamisons in all the many forms that have been shown over the last week. Chelsea is still in the hospital and being well looked after by a good care team. She has gone through numerous tests, which all continue to come back as mostly inconclusive. She has had positive results with B12 supplements and has shown significant improvement since I arrived on Saturday. Her “episodes” are much fewer and farther between and she has been able to eat normally and do self-care tasks independently.

We’ve spoken with a member of her care team about getting GI specialists involved. We want to know if there is a correlation between her bloodwork/symptoms and possible nutrition deficiencies. We are hoping they can make connections between her current condition and gallbladder removal several years ago.

While she is not out of the woods, she is grateful and overwhelmed to be surrounded by so much love and care by so many. So thank you! She may be transferred to inpatient therapy, but that still remains to be seen. Will continue to update as I am able!

11/16 Chelsea Jamison- our sweet sister, daughter, and friend- is currently battling an unknown illness that has become quickly debilitating for her and life-changing for her family.

On Monday morning, 11/11, Chelsea began experiencing sudden stroke-like symptoms before collapsing to the floor and being rushed to the nearby hospital via ambulance. She was initially treated for stroke, but an MRI later showed no sign of one. Throughout her three-day stay, Chelsea experienced fainting spells coupled with involuntary body twitches, which seemed to be brought on by body position and excitability. Standing for more than a few minutes, in particular, made her feel faint or even collapse. She was eventually discharged with a strict protocol of 24/7 supervision, as well as a heart monitor, with a plan to do follow-up outpatient testing

Episodes continued to happen at home and eventually her husband, Stephen, rushed her back to the hospital, insisting to medical staff that more urgency needed to be taken on behalf of her treatment and diagnosis.

She has been transferred to KU Medical Center where she is undergoing more testing and monitoring.

Currently, the multiple tests that have been done, including MRI, CT scans, blood work, EKG’s, etc, have so far been inconclusive in terms of a diagnosis. She continues to have fainting spells, at times even when lying in bed.

As you can imagine, the medical bills are quickly piling up. I am organizing this GoFundMe to help alleviate the financial stress and burden that has quickly and unexpectedly been placed on the Jamison family. I implore friends and family to support Chelsea and her family during this time with a donation to help ease the burden they face financially, so that they can focus solely on her health and get her back on her feet and in the comfort of her home with her family as quickly as possible.

Thank you!
