Support Chelsea in her recovery
Donation protected
Hi, everyone! This is a fundraiser for my good friend and college roommate, Chelsea. Those of you who know Chelsea know she’s the kindest person who thinks of everyone before herself. She needs our support as she faces a major surgery and recovery and the bills that come with such a thing. Chelsea has an inherited genetic mutation of her APC3 gene, a gene known as a tumor suppressor when working normally. The short version is that she is almost guaranteed to get color cancer if her colon isn’t removed and it has come time to make that happen - the colon coming out part, that is. She also recently learned of potentially precancerous changes in her stomach, which requires even more specialty doctors to figure out.
Her initial surgery is at the end of May and will mean two to four days in the hospital, followed by several weeks of recovery. While Chelsea is fortunate to have a job that is allowing her whatever time off she needs to recover, the appointments involved with being ready for surgery along with her general health conditions means that she is left with next to zero paid time off for the actual surgery and recovery. Should all go according to plan, she’s looking at four weeks away from work - however, should any complications arise as has happened with family members who have gone through the same surgery, this could become anywhere from two to six months without pay. All donations of any size are greatly appreciated and will help Chelsea with her inevitably large medical bills and the daily cost of life as she faces recovery with a post-surgery special diet and no income.
Thanks for whatever help you can give.
