I am creating this to ask for support for my little brother, Paco. He is 19 and loves to cook. His dream is to be a chef. He has a promising future and so much potential. He was recently promoted at work to a Lead Position, which shows his dedication and love for what he does. He is respectful, helpful, funny, a good kid with a big heart.
On Monday night, my brother was seriously injured in a hit and run by a drunk driver. My brother was on his board, crossing the street when the drunk driver struck him leaving him unconscious. Thankfully, there were witnesses on the scene that ran to help him, they called an ambulance and was in the hospital 10 minutes later. My dad received a call from the hospital at 9:40 pm advising him, his son was in critical condition. That is the worst call a parent can receive. After 8 hours in surgery, we were finally updated on what his condition was. He had internal bleeding in his stomach, a broken pelvis, fractured ribs and no circulation in his left leg. They fought furiously for 8 hours trying to stop the bleeding and save his leg. I didn't add pictures of him in his current condition out of respect for him and my family.
He is currently sedated and in the ICU and will be there for about 2 weeks. We are grateful he is alive. He has yet to wake up and there is a chance he might lose his leg, but we are praying and have faith that wont happen. After that, recovery for his broken pelvis and rib fractures, will leave him in the hospital for about 2 months at least. He has insurance but it wont cover all medical expenses. We don't have an exact amount now but will update this as soon as we know.
Another thing we are asking for is prayers. Please pray for my little brother, pray for his leg to be saved and in full function. Pray for his life and speedy recovery, and please pray for my family and myself. Even though we try to be strong for him, the feeling of hopelessness kicks in at times and brings us down. If you can't help with money, please help with prayer. We believe prayer is powerful.
Monday, August 19, 2019 will be a date we will remember forever. This is the night that changed not only my brother's life, but my family's as well. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for all your support. My family is forever grateful. May God bless you always.
And please if you drink, don't drive. We don't want anyone else going through what we're going through.
Muchas gracias a todos por su apoyo. Que Dios los bendiga grandemente.
