Support Chef Monica Pope’s Road to Recovery
Many of you know Chef Monica Pope as a visionary Houston chef, a champion of local farmers and sustainable food, and a beloved community builder who has spent decades nourishing others—body and soul. Monica has dedicated her life to creating spaces where food brings people together, and her generosity has supported countless emerging chefs, producers, artists, and neighbors.
Now, Monica needs our support.
Over the past year, Monica has been struggling with two painful hernias that have made it increasingly difficult to work, cook, and simply move without significant discomfort. The pain has reached a point where surgery is the only way forward. Without it, she cannot return to the kitchen full-time or to the work that fuels her purpose and livelihood.
Why We’re Asking for Help
The costs associated with surgery—medical fees, anesthesia, post-operative care, and the recovery period during which she cannot work—are overwhelming. As an independent chef and small business owner, taking time off means losing essential income. We’re raising funds to help cover:
- Surgical and hospital expenses
- Recovery and follow-up medical care
- Rent, bills, and basic living costs during healing time
- Support to allow Monica to return to work safely and fully
How You Can Make a Difference
Monica has always been the first to step up for others. She has built communities around food, created opportunities for countless people, and uplifted others through her vision and resilience. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.
Every contribution—big or small—makes a real impact in helping Monica get the care she urgently needs and return to the work she loves.
If you’re unable to give financially, you can still help by sharing this campaign widely.
With Gratitude
Thank you for standing with Monica and helping her move out of pain, into healing, and back to the kitchen where she belongs. Your support means more than words can express.
Let’s help Monica get back on her feet—and back to feeding the city.
