My name is Natasha Fountain. My Nlaka'pamux name given to me by my Grandmother Rose Fountain is Cheche'etko, which means healing water. I am very proud of this name because it is a symbol of my grandmother and her healing process. She was a survivor of the indian residential school and shyed away from cultural teachings and practices.

As a young child, I have always struggled with living in two worlds and my health has been impacted due to intergenerational trauma and climate changed. As a child, I have always had health challenges due to having lupus and a HLA Chromosome. In 2020, I was diagnosed with Endrometriosis. I live in constant pain everyday and my pain is exasperated by stress. In 2021, our family and community was impacted by the Atmospheric River and Wildfires and we were evacuated twice that year. In 2022, I decided to focus on the community healing, but that had a toll on my body due to on-going lateral violence, bullying and harassment. I had surgery in 2025 to remove my galbladder and fistula, but I was still on the wait-list for gynolology surgery, which was referred at the same time as the general surgery referral.

In November 2025, I was wrongfully terminated from my role at the band and I am still waiting for my gynolocogy surgery, which is scheduled in April 2026. I am looking for support during this medical and financial challenging circumstances.
