A 42-year-old husband, father, and union heavy equipment operator in Saint Paul, MN is fighting his way back from complete paralysis — and his family desperately needs your help. His name is Chaz Brunton. On May 5th, he was rushed to the ICU at Regions Hospital after being sent home from an ER that missed what was happening. What was dismissed as anxiety was Guillain-Barré Syndrome — a rare neurological disorder that attacked his own nervous system and left him completely paralyzed. He could barely communicate for the first 12 days. He is now in inpatient rehabilitation, relearning to walk, to move, to function. Day 21. Four days left in inpatient care — if everything goes right. And here is what no one tells you: discharge is not the finish line. It is where the real weight begins. When Chaz comes home, he will not be able to return to work — not for weeks, months, possibly longer. His wife Lindsay has been by his side at Regions Hospital every single day and night for 21 days straight. She has not been able to work. She has no return date. When he is discharged, she becomes his full-time caregiver — which means that does not change. Two incomes. Gone. Bills that do not pause for a family in crisis. Every day at the hospital costs hundreds of dollars in parking, food, and transportation just to keep Lindsay where she needs to be — at his side. Back home, their sons are holding the house together on DoorDash and delivery. Their dog. Their groceries. Everything. Chaz bought himself a new car last year — something he worked hard for and earned. He has not been able to drive it. His son Owen just got his driver’s license. The insurance climbs. The paycheck does not. The senior trip they had planned for Owen? Almost certainly off the table now. This family is not looking for a handout. Chaz is the man who would be the first one to help others in need, and now his family needs your support. Every donation helps cover medical bills, therapy, and essential living costs during this tough time. Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser with others who might help. Thank you for your kindness!
