If we’ve ever known a dog to be misunderstood, it is Chase.
Chase is an extremely sweet dog who was recently rescued from Downey Animal Care Center, a high kill shelter in South LA. His rescue was no easy feat - Chase was an owner surrender. Upon reading his intake notes, we discovered he was constantly crated and rarely allowed outside.
After a month at the shelter, his sweet demeanor started to evolve into fear. He was labeled a waiver and indemnity dog and was kept from public eye. He was even labeled as ‘bipolar’. His expiration date at the shelter was constantly looming.
But we could see that Chase was different. We could see he was scared, hopeless and forced to fend for himself. So we took action, built a community around this incredible dog and found multiple rescues (and an adopter!) interested in giving Chase a second chance. But the shelter kept turning us away. Then, the unimaginable happened - Chase’s adopter backed out.
Just when we thought we may not be able to support Chase any longer, we experienced a miracle - the shelter reassessed Chase, dropped his charges and extended his euthanization date. In the knick of time, he was graciously rescued by Ash Tree Ranch Rescue (501c3) and is currently residing at a foster's in Tustin, CA.
Chase is a very good boy. He wants to be lead. He wants to love and be loved. He wants to be in service. Chase has had a dark, difficult two years - losing his so called pack, being mislabeled and mishandled. He deserves a home where he can finally lay his head in peace, fully trust his person and live a life of joy. We have absolute faith that Chase's journey will unfold seamlessly from here.
But we need your help!
We are ready to place Chase in a board and train facility where he will receive the training he requires to calm his nervous system and start trusting again. Our trainer is generously charging 2K for 6 weeks (a discount of 3K). We must raise the funds first before placing him.
Chase is united with a village of people who care about him. We would be so grateful if you join us by gifting a donation to support Chase’s training and care. Any gesture, no matter how big or small, will help us reach our goal for him. Chase’s misunderstood past doesn’t have to define his future. And with your help, we can ensure that Chase’s future is as sweet and loving as he is!
