Charlie, my uncle, has always been the kind of person who puts others first. On Friday, January 23rd, he underwent an emergent quadruple bypass surgery after doctors discovered three major arterial blockages. The following 24 hours were critical as he was stabilized in the CVICU, but he soon needed a second surgery to close his chest. Just as we thought he was on the road to recovery, Charlie suffered a right MCA stroke, which left him unable to move his left arm and leg. Despite these setbacks, he has shown incredible strength and is now working hard in inpatient rehab to regain his independence.

Throughout this ordeal, we learned that Charlie does not have traditional health insurance, which means the costs for his surgeries, rehabilitation, and ongoing care will be a heavy burden. My aunt has been by his side every step of the way, but the financial strain is overwhelming. The funds raised will go directly toward Charlie’s medical bills, continued rehabilitation, and essential home modifications—like adaptive equipment—to help him transition home safely and comfortably.

Charlie is the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He’s spent years supporting his community by mowing lawns, shoveling snow, building fences, and lending a hand wherever it’s needed. He never asks for anything in return and has also been caring for his aging mother. Now, as he faces this difficult journey, we’re asking for help on his behalf.
