Support Charlie's Long Road to Recovery

Hi. I am Faith , Lil Charlies mom . On April 9 2025 , Charles left side was numb so he went to the ER. A CT scan showed that he had a 2cm x 2 cm mass on his brain . He had a MRI and then transported by ambulance to Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater . The neuro surgeon confirmed that there was a mass, but they were not sure if it was a tumor or an infection. Surgery was scheduled to drill through his skull to draw fluid to be cultured, and to determine if it was an infection or a tumor . Thankfully, it’s was an infection . Now he had to wait 3 days for the culture to reveal what kind of infection it is so it could be treated with appropriate antibiotics. While waiting for results , he was started on antibiotics which caused a shift in the mass and more swelling of the brain . He started experiencing agonizing headaches and his left side was deteriorating . He started having seizures and developed a form of paralysis on his left side . Medications that they tried did not alleviate his headaches and for 2 1/2 days he was in agony . The results of the culture determined that the infection was caused by a tooth infection . He was put on different pain medication , antibiotics and anti seizure medications , he is now on the road to recovery . Charlie is receiving physical and occupational therapy , which will continue when he’s released from the hospital . He will have outpatient iv treatments for 5-6 times a day for 6 weeks with nursing visits for home care and cleaning of his picc lines . He is currently on numerous medications that will continue when released , and, he will have to see an oral surgeon to have his tooth removed . Charlie does not have health insurance and will not be able to return to work anytime soon . He will be staying with his mom mom as her home is more equipped for his home care and close to medical appts . Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any help your able to provide .
