Hello, our names are Sky, Michelle, and Amanda. We are CNAs in Searcy, Arkansas. We recently experienced a very hard loss with one of our residents named Charlie. Charlie was a Navy vet from the great state of Louisiana, from the city of New Orleans. Charlie came to Arkansas after Hurricane Katrina but never stopped loving his home in New Orleans. He would tell Michelle and Amanda how amazing it was there and that she needed to visit sometime, and he and I would talk about how much we missed the food and the life of his home.
When Charlie was brought to us, we realized fast that this man was a wild card, full of laughs and ornery smiles. His family and he were separated due to unknown circumstances, and when he passed away, there was no one to claim his ashes. Because Charlie was our resident, who we loved and became our family for many years, we were able to jump through not as many hoops as you would expect and claim him.
Now, we want to do right by him and take his remains to be honored and remembered the way he deserves to be by taking him to the national veterans cemetery after taking him on one last trip through New Orleans. Unfortunately, on a CNA's income, we would have to wait a while, but we are asking anyone that would like to help us take Charlie home to donate. Whatever is left over after Charlie is honored and in his final resting place, we will be donating to veterans' suicide awareness. Please help Charlie visit home one last time while we take him on his journey to being remembered and honored.
