Our beloved friend, mentor, and talented artist, Charlie, is preparing to undergo brain surgery on Tuesday, November 10, to remove a cavernoma, a rare vascular malformation in the brain that poses a serious risk of bleeding and other life-threatening complications.
This surgical decision was made under the advisement of his extremely competent medical team to protect his long-term health and well-being. Charlie has been dealing with increasingly difficult health issues for a while and finally found out that this cavernoma is the root cause.
We’re organizing this GoFundMe to support him as he navigates into and through this next chapter. Please donate or share this fundraiser to help ensure Charlie can make it through this surgery and arduous recovery process.
Your donation will help Charlie cover critical support expenses during his recovery, including living costs, rehabilitation tools, therapy, and other important items not covered by his insurance. He will be unable to work, be online often, or engage in any activity outside of rest and recovery for a long period of time. Donated funds will also go toward an estate planning attorney, extensive dental care, and other critical recovery steps. Given the rarity of the location of the cavernoma and the uniqueness of the surgery, he is unable project how deeply this will impact him and for how long - but it will absolutely be more than a couple of months. We are tremendously grateful for any donation made for Charlie. If you are unable to donate, we are also grateful for anyone who can amplify & share this fundraiser.
Note on funds: To let Charlie focus entirely on the surgery journey and recovery, his close friend and Health Agent listed in his Advanced Directive, Julia Stone, is stepping in to manage the banking logistics and ensure every dollar goes directly to Charlie's Able Account and other banking.
Thank you for showing up for our friend and reminding him that he has a strong community of people who care about him.
