Support Charlie's Dental Operation: Beata Needs Your Help

Hello everyone!
My name is Beata, and I am a 21-year-old who is currently finishing up the last couple of semesters at college. I live with my three siblings along with my mother in a quaint home in the small town in IL. When I was young, my parents decided to take home our beloved family dog, Corey, and two American Shorthair cats, Charlie and Lola. Now that I am older, I have watched not only my siblings grow up but my pets too.

One of my cats in particular, Charlie, has been glued to my side since I can remember. I have held him in my arms as a baby and now as a senior. Recently, the cuddle sessions that we have together every night are different than how they were a couple of months ago. When I hold Charlie in my arms, I feel everything beneath me. I feel his sharp spine, and I feel his bones more than before. We have been to the veterinarian before for some breathing issues a couple of months ago, and this has been resolved through asthma-focused steroids. However, this sudden weight loss has never happened to him before. Sure, he has always been on the thinner side, but I’ve never seen him like this.

I took him to the veterinary clinic on April 28th so we could evaluate and figure out what was happening to him. Charlie then had a physical examination and blood work done so we could get some more information, and it turns out his white cell levels are very low, indicating that there is some sort of infection going on within his body. A closer examination revealed an abnormal growth on one of his teeth, which can be the source of the infection. Additionally, there appears to be a quarter-sized lump on the right side of his throat, possibly causing his esophagus to be pressed against, resulting in a loss of appetite. The veterinarian and I decided the best action to take would be to sedate him and extract the tooth which has the abnormal growth on it. I pray that he does not have any other teeth that need pulling; however, I would let them take the teeth if it means less pain to Charlie. We hope this operation would aim to encourage Charlie to eat more if the root cause of the pain is removed and that the post-operation antibiotics will help fight the infection that is present in that bump on his throat.

The funds for this fundraiser would heavily support the dental cleaning, tooth extraction operation, and medication costs. The funds would also provide financial relief for the recent vet appointments we have gone to that have caused stress on me and my family. I am, from the bottom of my heart, grateful for any assistance or support, and I appreciate your time to share this post if possible so we can get the word out there. Thank you from my family and myself, and I pray for Charlie’s swift recovery ❤️‍
