Many of you know that I have been a dog mom for oh so very long. Charlie is my second dog after I lost Pookie and in the last 8 years he has brought so much happiness, love and playfulness to our lives. He is not just a dog to us but like a sibling to our children and a fur baby to us. He has been there through all the ups and downs and we don't want to imagine life without him.

Our family is devastated learning Charlie has become severely ill in the last 3-4 days with what vets believe is immune-mediated hemolytic anemia . This disease can come on suddenly and sometimes with unknown cause. It causes the immune system to attack his own red blood cells , leaving him severely anemic with low platelets (causing bleeding), increased bilirubin levels which are overwhelming his liver and dramatic weight loss from loss of appetite. This is where we are with Charlie's current health status. Treatment and supportive care has already been very costly for our family and it will only increase with further hospital stays, testing, pathology tests, immunosuppressant drugs and possible blood transfusions to keep our Charlie going.

We would appreciate any help we could get and will never forget the generosity of people who helped us in this time of need.
