I am Rick Friar, husband of Charley Friar.

On Friday around 3 a.m., she had a heart attack in her sleep. I was in the room and began compressions, called EMS, and Charley had a fight for her life. At least four times she lost her pulse and was revived. Transferred to Parkland, she was stabilized and later that morning transported by helicopter to Mercy South. For the first few days, she was tested and diagnosed. No real reason why she had a heart attack except for her stress level with events with Dakota and other chemical issues. During this time at Mercy, they determined finally in her last days there that she would benefit from a deregulator which will be permanent. She was scanned and was negative in the head and chest for any defects. Her heart attack was 'instant death'; if you know, you know. She recovered and is having some memory issues, but through time we hope all will be remembered. Medication and rest will be a major part of her home recovery. She is unable to drive for six months and we have a ton of scheduled events happening. Charley will be unable to work for a while and will not be going back to SMMHC considering the stress level it takes to continue. She loves her friends and coworkers and has enjoyed working with people her entire life. We hope you all can understand her departure from SMMHC and will continue to befriend her as she values each and every one of you dearly.
