Community Members,

Our beloved friend Charles Reed needs our thoughts, prayers and financial support. On October 10th, 2021 Charles Reed suffered a major car accident and he sustained serious injuries. The critical nature of the injuries to his spine required an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission at Highland Hospital in Oakland.

We are pleased to hear that Charles is able to move all limbs, but he is limited in their use and function. In addition to a lengthy hospital stay, Charles will require significant physical therapy.

His voice sounds strong, grateful and determined.

Charles is known throughout the Bay Area for his irreplaceable contributions to our collective economic, social and environmental justice movements. His practice of speaking truth to power on behalf of the most vulnerable is an inspiration. In the near term, his voice will be missed, but we look forward to Charles returning to the movement after his rehabilitation process.
