Support Charles’ Goal: A career pivot from UX to Aviation

3 years ago, I immigrated to the UK as a UX Designer and tech entrepreneur. I had one deeply personal goal: to build a new life and pursue a meaningful career, solving complex challenges in areas I am enthusiastic and passionate about: healthcare, transport systems and food.

These past 3 years have been incredibly challenging, deeply depressing, isolating and painfully uncertain: I was laid off twice, each after just 4months in the role and have spent the last 24 months sending over 2,000 job applications while unemployed or underemployed. Currently, I work as a customer service advisor, and it keeps me afloat.

The unwavering support of my incredible friends has been my lifeline; they refused to let me drown and for that I am eternally grateful.

Life is happening now; it won’t stop or wait, so the show must go on. I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been offered a place at one of the UK’s most prestigious postgraduate institutions, Cranfield University, to study for an MSc in Safety and Human Factors in Aviation, starting September 2025.

My research interests explore critical areas of human-machine interface design and human-computer interaction in future flight deck design, cognitive neuro-ergonomics in human-AI teaming and augmentation across aviation operations, and the application of AI to advance aviation safety and risk management.

This MSc represents more than just a degree; it is my pathway to a career where I can contribute to global innovation in a field I am passionate about. To make this crucial step a reality, I need your help to raise £10,000 to support my tuition and living costs.
