A Message from the Siblings of Charles Corfield
We are the siblings of Charles Corfield. About nine weeks ago, our brother made the decision to fully commit his heart and life to Christ, more than ever before. We rejoiced with him and began to pray for the strength he would need to do just that.
In the following weeks, Charles made significant progress in his attitude, his perspective on life, and in his personal devotion to Christ. However, his life suddenly took an unexpected and challenging turn.
We are creating this fundraiser to help our brother and his family of six get back on their feet during this difficult time.
About six weeks ago, Charles suddenly fell seriously ill, leading to more than a three-week hospital stay. He was fully sedated for much of that time, while doctors worked tirelessly to determine what had attacked his lungs. They continued to say he was very ill and, even if they figured out what was wrong, they expected him to remain in the hospital for a very long time. For a time, we were very concerned we might lose him. After extensive testing, they concluded that he had contracted Legionnaires’ disease. However, the strong antibiotics administered early on had masked the infection in his cultures, making it difficult to diagnose right away.
As mentioned, Charles was sedated for over 10 days and unable to breathe on his own. This meant that, for most of his hospital stay, he did not use his muscles. Combined with the physical toll of Legionnaires’ disease, Charles now faces a long and challenging road to recovery.
His condition required transfers between hospitals in Eden, San Angelo, and Dallas, Texas—once by plane and twice by ambulance. Of course, this all begins to really add up.
Throughout his life, Charles has been an incredibly devoted worker, always willing to take on multiple jobs to provide for his family. At the time of his illness, he was working two full-time jobs. Unfortunately, one of his employers let him go because he was still in the probationary period of his employment, while the other has graciously expressed a desire for him to return. However, he will not be compensated for the month of work he has missed.
With mounting hospital bills, travel costs for his family to care for him, and a month without pay, Charles and his family are in urgent need of financial and prayer support.
We kindly ask that you prayerfully consider helping in any way you can. Charles is a man of honor, and he has always strived to be the provider for his family.
Thank you, on behalf of our brother, for any amount you are able to give. If you are unable to give financially, your prayers are equally appreciated, and we are deeply grateful for them.
God Bless,
