We are heartbroken by the sudden and devastating loss of Dan on November 11, 2024. He was a loving husband to my sister, Charis. Soul mates from the first moment at Starbucks, 28 years ago.
He was a devoted father to Adam, Alyssa, Aaron, and Ashar. He was always there for them when they needed him. They shared so many memories of family vacations, roadtrips, and family traditions like Friday pizza night.
Dan cared for his family unconditionally even while fighting his personal battles. Sadly, he took his own life. He was only 54 years old. This tragic event does not define him. We hope he is remembered as a loving, kind, compassionate, caring, and brilliant person.
Dan brought joy and love to everyone he met. His smile was infectious. This loss has left an unimaginable void in our lives. While we are grieving and processing this, we wanted to help Charis and the kids as they navigate the next steps. If you are able, please consider making a donation or sharing this GoFundMe link. Any contribution big or small will make a difference and help us honor the life of an incredible man who meant so much to us.
I am hoping to bring light to the suicide epidemic- such a permanent decision often made because of a temporary problem, has a lifelong devastating ripple effect on the loved ones left behind. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out for help by calling 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline or the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-8255. Check in with your family and friends and remind them you are there for them and will always listen.
Thank you for your kindness, love and generosity during this incredibly sad time for our family.
With immense gratitude,
Laura on behalf of Charis, Adam, Alyssa, Aaron, and Ashar McCann
