UPDATE! It's June 25th and Chappie has been home for a little less than a week with his Mom, Dad, and baby brother!

Mitch has been so excited that Chappie is feeling better, he couldn't wait to hold his paw while he was resting.
Recovery is going so much better than everyone could've hoped: Chappie is starting to feel much more like his joyful, fun-loving self again!
We are hoping that sometime between this week and next, that the test results will be in from the samples that the wonderful vets at VVC sent out during his surgery. Chappie has a follow-up appointment coming up soon to make sure that the antibiotics are working and don't need to be changed for any reason.
We are endlessly grateful to everyone that's donated, shared our GoFundMe, sent messages and prayers, and shared their kindness and love to our entire family. Especially grateful for everyone showing up and showing out for our rock-star boy, Chappie!

In the end, if all comes out well like we hope, Chappie will be back in action creating joy like the superhero he is for everyone he meets!
Check back for more updates as we keep pushing forward! Chappie, Mom, Dad, and Mitch send all their love to everyone in their village!
Please continue sharing, donating, and sending all the love - any and every thing helps.
Here's Chappie pouting about his collar to say thank you for the well-wishes!

UPDATE! As of late June 19th, Chappie is HOME and recovering from his surgery!
He gave his Mom and Dad lots of hugs and kisses last night to show how much better he's feeling! He's not out of the clear yet, as the mass on his bladder was bigger than what the veterinarians had expected. Samples are currently being sent off to be inspected, just to make sure there are no other issues or underlying concerns.
Based on where everything is currently at, we've lowered our goal from $15,000 to $10,000, as his prognosis seems to be better than anticipated!
Thank you to Chappie's army for the donations, support, prayers! We love, love, love our village!
Please continue sharing to help us reach our goal and to help Chappie to continue to live his best life!

Whether you have seen him jumping at River Rock or helping his Dad train dogs around the community, Chappie creates joy for everyone he meets. Unfortunately, he is not feeling well and could use a little help from all of his friends.

What started out as possible tears in the CCL in both of his knees, has now evolved into the discovery of a mass on Chappie's bladder. After hours turned into days spent with the amazing team at VVC in Carytown, our family is now waiting on updates as far as how his surgery is going. What we do know is that, at the end of the day, Chappie means the world to not only us, but so many others in RVA that he's met throughout his adventures with his Dad and Mom.
Currently, he is still in critical care at VVC and has had so many tests, medication, scans, with all of these leading up to a life-saving surgery happening right now. Anything and everything is greatly appreciated to help us save our sweet Chappie. Nobody in his army is ready to say goodbye yet.

Last month, on the weekend of May 17th, at Dominion River Rock, Chappie was competing in the Subaru Ultimate Air Dogs competition, dock jumping with all his friends and his little brother, Mitch. Normally landing pretty far in the water, Chappie's jumps weren't matching up to his jumps from previous years. By Sunday, May 19th, he showed off a pretty bad limp during his last jump. His Mom and Dad pulled him from the lineup, got him all snuggled up with some treats, and immediately started scheduling a vet visit.
After being examined the next day, the vets were under the impression it was a tear in the CCL in both knees, meaning a tear in the ligament that connects the femur to the tibia. Recommended to see an orthopedic surgeon for a consultation, Chappie's Mom and Dad started preventive measures to make sure if there were any tears, they wouldn't get worse. This means taking time off work to help Chappie walk to use the bathroom or get water, rotating icing both of his knees, and keeping a close eye on him. Thankfully, the orthopedic surgeon found nothing wrong with either of Chappie's knees, so Chappie's family was so excited he was in the clear!
This past Sunday, June 16th, Chappie was refusing to eat or use the bathroom, so Mom and Dad took him back to the vet, where they discovered the mass on his bladder.
Nobody ever wants to hear, "You might need to say goodbye to your dog this weekend," especially not on Father's Day.

Although not sure at first if the mass was cancerous, the wonderful vets at VVC in Carytown, VA have discovered it is not cancer, but the mass is in a very bad, harmful location. Normally being the one to take care of everyone around him, from donating blood to help other dogs to helping take care of his family, the news of him needing help is devastating to his village. After many tests, scans, everything, Chappie was just taken back for surgery this morning, July 18th, around 10:30am.
There will be more updates to come, but for the time being, anything and everything is appreciated.
Thank you to Chappie's village for all of the continuous support, love, assistance. From his fans at River Rock, to his Dad's (and his) coworkers, to his Mom's clients, and everyone in between: Chappie's family wants to say thank you.
Please spread the word and share the love. Please donate if you can.
Chappie sends all the puppy kisses to all of you!
