My name is Chance Calloway, a disabled Air Force vet (among other things) living in Los Angeles. Over the last thirteen months, I’ve been dealing with a violent harasser who has continued coming onto the property where I live. He’s defaced my property, urinated on my porch, pulled the security bars off of my bedroom windows, loitered and peeked into my windows, lit the trees next to my apartment on fire, broken into my neighbors apartment after months of trying, thrown rocks at my windows and oors, verbally antagonized me, and in February of this year we got into a physical altercation after which he was arrested and then back at his shenanigans within a month. Despite a lengthy and costly legal process to secure my restraining order against him, as well as the domestic violence restraining order another neighbor has against him, several cases filed with the LA Police Department and a complaint filed with the the LA Housing Department, and hours of documented footage from security cameras maintained by myself and another neighbor, neither the LAPD nor my current landlords have made much of an effort to provide me protection or safety.
I began looking for a new place to live back in the spring, and, after many delays, I was finally approved to move into a new place on the 17th of this month. Anyone who’s dealt with HUD-VASH, HACLA, and/or Los Angeles realtors knows that the situation is lengthy and complicated, and only today I was just informed of the full amount that I need to have by the 17th, which is significantly higher than I was initially told.
Due to the speed and necessity of this move, I cannot delay it, and am in need of support to pay the full amount by moving day, which includes $3341.20 due to the new landlords (two months rent as a security deposit, plus prorated rent for this month), as well as moving fees. Anything you can contribute to support me in this transition is much appreciated by not only me, but also my precious cats. Thank you so much for reading and understanding.
