I'm Chaley, living in Columbus, OH with my 2 children. I’m trying to raise funds for a roof over our head. After a few years of struggling to get a place of my own for us 3, and a period of time of essentially being homeless where my kids had to primarily live with their dad, we finally got an apartment in August. I started a good job back in June but was unexpectedly laid off at the beginning of October, therefore unable to pay my rent. I hadn’t even been able to recover from move-in costs by the time I lost my job. I have not stopped applying for any and all jobs for over a year! In that time, I landed this job. Didn’t expect to lose it so fast! And at this time of the year.. again! So far, I still haven’t gotten anything back from unemployment (having back-to-back issues) and the landlord will not accept assistance from Job & Family Services. At this rate, I am now not just behind 1 month but 2. Plus, with the government shutdown, I also will lose out on my food assistance too! I just got a job that I start this week, along with a side gig, but I will not get paid in time to avoid losing our apartment.

I hate, hate, hate asking for any help, especially without working for it. My listed goal is to help with 2 months' rent. I want nothing more than to be able to continue to provide for my children and have a roof over our heads. I know this time is hard on everyone, so I don’t expect much. But I figured I would at least try here while I continue reaching out to other resources as well.
