Hello, thank you very much for taking the time to read; it is very appreciated.
This is Chai, my 10-year-old baby girl. She’s picky, loves blanket caves, and is the temperature of the burning sun. She is now a senior dog, who up until now was in perfect health.
Two weeks ago, we noticed she was acting strangely, not coming out of bed, acting stiff, ears back. She didn’t get better and would yelp when touched, refuse to lay down, stiffen her neck, and twitch, wetting herself, prompting a vet visit that ended up being well out of my budget and putting me into some credit debt. The scans diagnosed a cervical diseased disk in her neck (IVDD), a degenerative disease that often requires surgery. We were referred to a neurologist, but there is only one in our area and a single MRI scan costs $6,000. Money I simply do not have.
After some crate rest, medication, and a pain injection, she appeared to be doing better for a week. Walking, although wobbly, and seemingly going back to normal. We really thought everything would be alright. But as of yesterday, she’s back to feeling bad. I can hear her breaths and tremors, and I genuinely want to tear my hair out. This little lady has given me so many years of joy, only for me not to be able to help her when she most needs it. She wants to get better, I can see it in her. But I just don’t have the financial resources.
If you would like to help, I would be ever so grateful. My first goal is $1,000, to see the neurologist and buy more pain medication. Truly, anything helps. If you have any questions, suggestions, or well wishes, please feel free to reach me. Thank you for your time.
