Greetings friends and family,
My friend Chad Bunnell is in a tough spot and needs some resources to get back to the best quality of life that he is able to enjoy. He has made incredible progress and just needs a little extra help. Here he is in his own words:
"Dear Friend,
I am in a bad situation and need help. I am 67 and entered a nursing home on Oct 24, 2024, with yet undiagnosed Parkinson's disease. I was in terrible condition. My mind was completely scrambled. I was unable to walk and was experiencing periods of paralysis; I was unable to initiate movement.
With the right diagnosis, a new medication, as well as physical and occupational therapy, I am now able to function almost normally. I don't need the wheelchair, but use a cane to walk anywhere I want. My mind is clear and the tremors in my hands are under control. I work with my hands as an artisan.
I am ready to get out of the nursing home and into a normal living situation. This will allow me to resume my work, get decent medical care, and take advantage of two Medicaid programs that provide all sorts of benefits for those who can return to the world outside of institutions.
The "Catch 22" is that I will need money to secure housing. As long as I'm living in the nursing home, all but $70/month of my income is taken as my co-pay for my stay here. This includes my Social Security income and any other income I might earn or be given. This makes it impossible to save anything for, rent, living expenses, and other costs I will incur in getting out on my own. I am looking for a shared living space.
I don't want to collect any funds until I am no longer living here. I believe I can be fully self-sustaining, once I get out of the nursing home and can earn a supplement to my income, but I need help to get over this obstacle and can get my own place.
Any contribution will be deeply appreciated.
Thank you,
Chad Bunnell"
