Hi Everyone! My name is Bethany, and I am starting a fundraiser for my dad, Chad. My dad was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver (August 2024) and liver cancer (January 2025), and I am trying my hardest to do everything I can to help him fight for his life.
My dad was born in August 1972, so he is still incredibly young to be going through all of this, especially the hardship and struggles that have come along with the diagnosis.
This has been an incredibly painful and emotional year and a half for us. Doctors have told us that his liver is failing due to the Cirrhosis and that the newly found cancer has made his health decline at an even faster rate. He has been in and out of hospitals, gone to appointments, done scans, and even had some chemo with the hopes that it would help. The medical costs, medications that he NEEDS to have, and travel expenses have been piling up. And that's only the half of it; we pay rent to live in our home. My dad has lived here for the past 11 years; it's his safe place.
My dad is one of the strongest people I know—he has worked hard my whole entire life. When I was born, my dad set out on a mission to build something where he was the boss, and he built a trucking company called Transway Express. When his health started declining, nobody was trained well enough to handle the business other than my dad. So the months in the hospitals and the comas he endured took him away from his job, and ultimately, in the end, the business had to close its doors after being open for 30 years. My dad has suffered great loss, and I don't want to see him lose his house even now. He is clearly too sick to work, and our resources are running thin trying to cover everything, especially the treatments and medications that insurance doesn't fully cover.
Myself and my dad are asking for help to cover:
- Medical bills and medications that aren't covered by insurance.
- Travel to and from specialist appointments.
- Daily living expenses (such as rent and our utilities).
- Any potential hospice or end-of-life care if it becomes necessary.
