My brother, Chad, is fighting Stage 4 Lymphatic Cancer, and our family is doing everything we can to support him through the hardest battle of his life. He has been sick for a long time, but this year things became much more serious. He is now undergoing aggressive chemotherapy every two weeks, which has left him exhausted, weak, and unable to work. Since the beginning of the year, Chad hasn’t been able to work, and the financial strain has become overwhelming. He needs critical medications to manage his symptoms and support his treatment, but right now he has no income to pay for them. He is waiting for Medicaid to be approved, but the process is slow, and his needs are immediate. At this moment, he doesn’t even have money for groceries. No one fighting cancer should also have to worry about how they will eat or afford the medication they need to stay alive.
When my sister, Ruechel, my dad, and I first learned about Chad’s diagnosis, I was beside myself. I didn’t know what to say or how to breathe. But Chad—even while he was the one fighting for his life—texted me to comfort me. He told me not to worry, that he was a fighter, and that he would beat this. That’s who he is. Even in pain, he tries to protect the people he loves. Ruechel had been taking him to his appointments and updating me afterward. Every time, she would tell me the same thing: “He’s so positive. He’s still fighting.” Even on the hardest days, he tries to stay hopeful. His wife, Donna, is also doing everything she can to support him. She is on disability herself, so she isn’t able to help financially, and this has been incredibly hard on her as well. She loves him deeply and is struggling alongside him through all of this.
We are raising funds to help cover Chad’s essential medications, groceries, basic living expenses, and any urgent needs that come up during his treatment. Even in the middle of everything he’s going through, he wanted to share a few words: “I’m grateful for any help during this fight. Thank you for supporting me.” Anything you can give—no matter the amount—will make a real difference. If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser or praying for him during this time helps more than you know. Thank you for taking the time to read his story and for supporting him during this incredibly difficult time.
