Support Chad's Road to Recovery

Hi Friends & Family -

We are starting a GoFundMe page for our brother-in-law, Chad Rebbe, the husband of our sister, Cara. Chad is the father to four amazing kids Logan, Wyatt, Isaac & Brealla. He is a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, mentor, provider, Christian, coach, and a leader.

Back in early January 2024, Chad passed out unexpectedly and hit his head. He was taken to the ER by ambulance. He returned home and seemed to be fine. Fast forward to a couple of months ago, Chad started developing unusual symptoms. After weeks of tests and doctors ruling out other things, on June 26, 2024, he had an MRI that discovered a brain bleed. Chad was unexpectedly rushed by ambulance that afternoon to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha and had surgery (a craniotomy) that night. Chad made it through surgery and was in the ICU for a couple of days, moved to the regular ward, and then was able to go home on June 29, 2024.

Chad was recovering at home and taking all the necessary precautions. But, on the morning of July 11, 2024, Chad & Cara noticed fluid/drainage on his pillow. After speaking with the doctor over the phone, they ended up back at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha for a CT Scan and MRI. Chad was admitted to the hospital because the scan showed an infection. He was administered antibiotics and scheduled for surgery. He underwent a second surgery on the night of Friday, July 12, 2024. The surgeons did a craniectomy (removing that portion of the skull) and cleaned out most of the infection. The doctors were not able to remove all of the infection because where some of it was located, it was too difficult to remove. They ran a culture on the infection so they could give Chad the correct antibiotics to fight it. Chad is still in the hospital at the Med Center. In the next couple of days, he is getting fitted for a helmet that he will have to wear for six months. When he is dismissed from the hospital, which could be soon, Chad will have a PICC line and be on antibiotics for at least four weeks. We know that Chad will need to have at least one more surgery, cranioplasty, in six to eight months.

Chad is showing incredible strength and patience but he has a long road of recovery. It is a roller coaster and we pray for no more infections or setbacks. Chad will have ongoing tests, scans, monitoring, and a third surgery in the future. The funds raised through this GoFundMe will go directly to cover those costs and expenses.

The Rebbe Family believes in the power of prayer, as do we, and we know the power of prayer is incredible. They have had many answered prayers thus far with Chad’s journey and we know prayer works & Jesus Heals! As Chad continues his recovery, we ask, whether your support looks like a financial donation (big or small), sharing Chad’s story, or keeping Chad (and his doctors and family) in your prayers - we are so thankful for the support and love.

We will post updates as we get them.

Thank you for your faith, hope & love - it is so important for Chad, his wife Cara, and their four amazing kids.
