Support Chabad of Bondi: Help our community after the attack

Thank you for standing with us at last night’s "Light Over Darkness" memorial service.

Chabad of Bondi is the epicentre of this tragedy. The shockwaves have hit our home directly, and the pain is deep. But looking around the promenade last night, seeing you standing shoulder-to-shoulder with us during this mourning period, meant the world.

Together, we sent a powerful message: We have shown the world that our response is to rebuild.

But rebuilding requires more than just spirit, it requires immediate action.

Since the moment the news broke, Rabbi Ulman has been a rock for us all. He has not stopped. Day and night, Rabbi Ulman has been on the frontlines of this emotional crisis, working round-the-clock to provide strength, counsel, and a shoulder to lean on for the entire community.

He does this while bearing a crushing personal weight. Rabbi Ulman is himself grieving the loss of his beloved son-in-law, Rabbi Eli Schlanger, the driving force behind Chabad of Bondi, our cherished Operations Manager, Rabbi Yaakov Levitan, as well as other close friends and dear congregants.

Despite his own heartbreak, Rabbi Ulman is holding the hands of the grieving, calming the fears of the terrified, and ensuring that no one, absolutely no one, has to face this darkness alone.

We need your help to keep this lifeline open.

The loss of Rabbi Schlanger and Rabbi Levitan leaves a massive void in our daily operations. Their tireless work must go on, but Rabbi Ulman cannot carry this burden alone. We must urgently bring in capable people to help shoulder the load and continue the vital mission they dedicated their lives to.

Your urgent contribution will allow us to:

- Secure dedicated staff immediately to step into these critical operational roles so the community does not lose momentum.

- Provide professional grief counseling and trauma support for individuals and families struggling to cope with the aftershocks.

- Create safe spaces for our youth, offering them the guidance they need to process this confusion and fear.

- Sustain Rabbi Ulman’s round-the-clock pastoral care, allowing him to reach every person who calls out for help.

Last night we lit a candle for the lost. Today, we must fuel the flame of the living.

Please, help Rabbi Ulman continue to provide strength to our brokenhearted community. Help us turn this pain into a legacy of resilience.

With deep gratitude and strength,
Chabad of Bondi
