Support Ceyani's Journey to Tanzania

Hi everyone,

After a courageous battle with Stage 4 Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, I took time off from school to focus on my health. This journey has been life-changing, inspiring me to explore the world and make a meaningful impact on underrepresented communities, both locally and internationally.

As a current Junior Biology student at North Carolina A&T State University, I am thrilled to have been accepted into a study abroad program with the HBCU Africa Education Coalition (HAEC). This organization is dedicated to eliminating barriers for students of African descent to study abroad, fostering global education, and empowering students like me to connect with the rich cultures of Africa and its Diaspora.

For me, this opportunity is more than just an academic experience, it's a pivotal step in achieving my aspirations of becoming a traveling nurse practitioner. I am deeply passionate about learning from diverse cultures and communities, which will prepare me to serve people from all walks of life. My ultimate goal is to work internationally, giving back to communities in need, just as I have been supported by my own.

Through this program, I aim to:

1. Volunteer and/or contribute to local projects in Tanzania, making a tangible impact while learning from the people I serve.

2. Build skills to effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, critical for nursing and patient care.

3. Gain firsthand knowledge about Africa and its Diaspora.

4. Use my experience & education to later advocate for programs that support others, particularly minority students, in achieving their academic and career goals.
