Support Centennial Academy's Science Olympiad Dream

We are asking for $10,000 to cover travel, lodging, consumable supplies, and equipment so our Science Olympiad team can represent Centennial Academy in the 2025 Georgia State Science Olympiad at the University of Georgia on April 19, 2025.

Centennial Academy is a small school with big dreams. This school year we wanted to challenge ourselves in science so we decided to go big: we entered the national Science Olympiad competitions. Fifteen middle school students who are obsessed with competition and expanding their science game gathered materials, practiced twice a week, and entered the Yellow Jacket Science Olympiad at Georgia Tech on February 1st. Our scholars were energized by the process, had a great time, and learned a lot to prepare for our next competition, the Emory University Regional Science Olympiad on February 22, 2025.

At Emory, we participated in 23 events in science and engineering disciplines. Since this was only our first year, we hoped to win a few medals. However, we were astounded - team members kept winning events (13 First place, 5 Second place, and 1 Third place), ultimately WINNING FIRST PLACE IN OUR REGION! We hadn't thought about the possibility that we might actually move up in the competition, but here we are! We're going to the 2025 Georgia State Science Olympiad at the University of Georgia on April 19, 2025.

However, since we weren't expecting to win, we need money to attend the State competition. We'll need to travel to Athens, Georgia, the night before and stay overnight for the event, which starts at 7AM. We also need materials so we can build new, improved, working models for all events, since all our earlier models were destroyed in the regional competition. Any remaining funds will be used to supply the team for next school year.
