Celeste is my vibrant, beautiful, brave, intelligent, talented, caring, and loving 22-year-old niece. She has big dreams and a deep commitment to helping others. On July 13, 2025, she suffered a stroke. Due to medical negligence and a lack of culturally appropriate care, her diagnosis was delayed until July 14. During those critical days, Celeste endured not only the physical trauma of the stroke but also the emotional pain of being dismissed and misunderstood by medical professionals. Her symptoms were first misdiagnosed as vertigo, and then doctors wrongly accused her of substance use, even though Celeste does not use drugs or alcohol. This experience left her with lasting medical trauma and a challenging road to recovery.

Since her diagnosis, Celeste’s life has changed dramatically. She now attends occupational and physical therapy, wears a heart monitor daily, and continues to search for answers as doctors have yet to determine the cause of her stroke. Even simple tasks, like holding a five-pound weight with her left hand, are difficult right now, showing just how much her physical abilities have been affected.

At the same time, Celeste is pursuing her college education, with the new semester quickly approaching. Covering tuition and school-related expenses is her greatest financial challenge, especially as she works toward her dream of becoming a speech pathologist to support children in marginalized communities. The majority of funds raised will go directly toward helping Celeste continue her education and stay on track with her studies despite this major setback.

Some of the support will also help with her recovery needs. Insurance does not cover all of the holistic therapies that are essential for her physical and mental healing, and her strict gluten-free diet due to Celiac Disease adds to her financial burden.

Celeste is surrounded by the love of her family and friends, who are doing their best to support her. She is motivated by her desire to travel to her grandparents’ hometown to learn about ancestral healing practices, return to her job as a barista, and be strong enough to accompany her younger brother on his middle school trip next spring. Her determination and hope shine through.

Al mismo tiempo, Celeste sigue asistiendo a la universidad, y con el nuevo semestre a punto de comenzar, su mayor preocupación es poder cubrir la matrícula y los gastos escolares. La mayor parte de los fondos recaudados se destinará directamente a apoyar su educación, para que pueda continuar sus estudios y mantenerse en camino hacia su sueño de convertirse en patóloga del lenguaje y habla, ayudando a niños en comunidades marginadas.

Parte del apoyo también se usará para cubrir necesidades de recuperación. El seguro no cubre todas las terapias holísticas que son esenciales para su sanación física y mental, y su estricta dieta sin gluten debido a la enfermedad celíaca aumenta su carga económica.

Celeste está rodeada del cariño de sus amigos y familiares, quienes hacen todo lo posible por apoyarla. La motiva el deseo de viajar al pueblo natal de sus abuelos para aprender sobre prácticas curativas ancestrales, regresar a su trabajo como barista y tener la fuerza suficiente para acompañar a su hermano menor en su viaje escolar la próxima primavera.
